Tania Hawkins

Learning Experience Manager, fitness enthusiast, Te Reo student

“The passion people have for their communities is really inspiring and every kōrero I have drives me to find new and better ways to tautoko their mahi.”

Tania Hawkins has a 20-year career in organisational development and learning and development across too many different industries to count. It’s the collaborative, innovative and supportive culture at LGNZ that keeps her here and the fact that she finds the sector so interesting and challenging.

Over the years, Tania has tested new learning techniques, models and approaches. Now at LGNZ, she can bring it all together to support what she considers to be one of the broadest ranges of skills and audiences a learning professional can face.

She loves the relationship aspect of her work, meeting fascinating folk from everywhere, all of whom are incredibly generous with their intel and stories.

Tania considers the keys to her success as being the ability to think on her feet, multi-task and comfort in skirting around ‘normal’ process. An earlier career in film and television has also helped develop the ability to keep calm and carry on, in the face of technical challenges and facilitation emergencies.

Today, Tania is working to deliver a learning framework that she hopes every elected member will engage with regularly, knowing that it is a great use of their valuable time.
